Love Languages

I had someone ask me about love languages recently, as defined by Gary Chapman in his book. I’ve never read the book, but the information is widely available. So, according to his definitions, I’ll give it a shot, as to what makes me feel loved. And really, it’s the first 3.

1. Quality Time
This is easily first, by a lot. I like focused attention. Sharing experiences. One-on-one conversations.

2. Physical Touch
This is second, and I’m not even including sex. Touch is a powerful force. A hug means a lot to me. Dancing…is magical. Also, it also signifies a greater degree of intimacy than words usually do.

3. Words of Affirmation
This would be higher, except being affirmed for what I do doesn’t mean much to me. I want to be appreciated for who I am, not what I do. I want to know I mean something to someone.

4. Receiving Gifts
I appreciate gifts, and don’t take them for granted, but gifts mean much less than what’s above.

5. Acts of Service
Means almost nothing to me
