Real Beauty?

Apparently Dove (as in Dove soap) has an organization called the Dove Self-Esteem Fund that runs their Campaign for Real Beauty. Check out the video on their homepage. It shows how an ordinary girl is turned into a beauty queen for advertising purposes. She’s an attractive girl to begin with, but under a bright light, it’s evident her skin isn’t perfect and she’s certainly not glamorous. While professional lighting, makeup, and hair design certainly change her look quite a bit, the end result is accomplished in Photoshop. They make their point, so many of the people we see in advertising and in other media are ‘touched up.’ How does anyone compete with that?
